You can change anything in a saved recipe: the title, photo, ingredients, steps, servings, times, tags, tips and equipment. Or describe the change you want and let Edit with AI do it for you to review.
Edit a recipe yourself
Open the recipe's menu
Tap the menu button at the top right of the recipe, then Edit.
Make your changes
- Photo: tap Choose photo to take or pick a new cover, remove it, or bring the original back with Use original photo.
- Details: tap it for the description, servings, times and tags (meal, diet and cuisine).
- Ingredients and steps: tap a line to change or remove it. Use Add ingredient to add one. A step can have its own photos.
- Reorder: press and hold a line until it lifts, then drag it. Holding a group's heading moves the whole group.
Tap Save
If your changes affect a planned meal or your shopping list, Phork It! shows you what will change first.
Edit with AI
Say what you want changed in your own words, like "make it vegan", "no oven, use the air fryer" or "less salt".
Choose Edit with AI
It's in the recipe's menu.
Describe the change
Phork It! writes the edited recipe and shows you exactly what would change, with a short summary. Ask for more changes, or answer if it asks you a question.
Choose where to save it
- This recipe replaces the recipe with the new version (Save changes).
- New option keeps your recipe and adds the AI's version as an option you can pick when cooking (Add option).
- New recipe saves it as a separate recipe and leaves this one as it is (Save new recipe).
Nothing is saved until you choose. To cook for more people, just use the servings stepper on the recipe instead.
Delete a recipe
Open the recipe's menu and choose Delete. Phork It! tells you if the recipe is on your plan or shopping list, since those go too. Tap Delete to confirm.
Good to know
- There's no way to see or restore earlier versions in the app yet. If you need an older version back, email us.
- Changing an ingredient's amount, unit, name or note rebuilds the line from those parts, so extra words in the original line may go.
- Edit with AI shares an hourly limit with generating recipes.
